Lemley International Joint Venture Awarded Contract to Manage Construction of No. 7 Subway Line Extension in NYC

BOISE, ID, May 24, 2007—Lemley International, the worldwide construction consulting firm, announced that they and their partners have been selected as the Construction Managers for a project to extend the Number 7 Subway Line in New York City. Lemley International was selected by MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority), NYC Transit and MTA Capital Construction Company; the MTA Board confirmed the selection with a final vote. The project, valued at $2.0 Billion, will provide for better public access to the West Side of Manhattan Island which includes the Jacob Javits Convention Center an area known as the Hudson Yards.

Lemley’s partners include New York based companies Hill International, The Liro Group, and Daniel Frankfurt/HDR. The Joint Venture Team will be headed by Lemley’s Tom Woodall, a nationally recognized tunneling expert, with Jack Lemley (President of Lemley International) providing leadership to the overall management committee. Lemley is globally recognized for managing the construction of the Channel Tunnel between England and France.

This project will extend the No. 7 Line westward from Times Square under West 41st Street and southward along Eleventh Avenue to the southerly terminus at West 24th Street. The planned extension provides 7200 feet of tunnel to accommodate a two-track railroad with two lay-up tracks for the storage of six trains (three on each side). The extension also provides for two new stations; an intermediate station at West 41st Street and Tenth Avenue (Tenth Avenue Station) and a two track terminal station on Eleventh Avenue at West 34th Street (34th Street Station).
